Using mobile data in Vietnam

The length of Vietnam

Many trips run the length of the country from north to south, and data holds up well in the cities and along the main corridor. A mid size plan covers maps and messaging, while the unlimited windows suit heavier use.

For a Ha Long Bay cruise or a remote motorbike loop, download offline maps in advance where the signal thins out.

Apps and getting around

Grab is the main ride and delivery app in Vietnamese cities and runs on data, though it may ask for an SMS code on first sign in. Zalo is the dominant local messenger, alongside WhatsApp and Messenger.
