What happens to a travel eSIM when you get home?
Nothing dramatic. A prepaid travel eSIM has no subscription, so there is nothing to cancel and nothing that keeps billing. When the plan's data or validity runs out, it simply stops. Your only real decision is whether to delete the eSIM or leave it installed.
Flip your data back
The one change that matters: set your home SIM as the data line again, and turn its data roaming back on if you normally keep it on. Your phone is now exactly as it was before the trip.
Delete it or keep it?
Either is fine. An expired eSIM does nothing — it uses no data and costs nothing while it sits there.
Delete it if you like a tidy SIM list. On iPhone: Settings, Cellular, tap the eSIM, Delete eSIM. On Android: Settings, Network & Internet (or Connections), SIMs, select the eSIM, and remove it.
One caution: deleting is permanent. The install code in your original email works only once, so a deleted eSIM cannot be reinstalled. If the same eSIM can still be topped up for a future trip, keep it until you are sure you are done with it.
Leftover data does not carry over
Unused data expires with the plan. It cannot be banked for the next trip, which is one more reason our trip-matched plan sizes beat guessing big.
