Samsung Galaxy eSIM compatibility and setup
Samsung's flagships have shipped with eSIM since the Galaxy S20, but some carrier versions — especially US carrier models of the S20 and S21 — shipped with eSIM switched off. The 30-second check below settles it for your exact phone.
Which Galaxy phones support eSIM
Galaxy S22 and the flagships after it — S23, S24, S25, and their Plus and Ultra versions — ship with eSIM in most regions. We have not seen carrier versions of these without it, but the *#06# check below confirms your exact phone.
The Galaxy S20 and S21 families and the Note 20 family have eSIM hardware, but some carrier versions shipped with it disabled. If you have one of these, run the check below.
The Z Fold and Z Flip lines support eSIM.
The A-series and FE models vary by model and by region. Some have eSIM and some do not, so check your specific phone rather than trusting a list.
Check in 30 seconds
Open the dial pad and type *#06#. If a line labeled EID appears, your Galaxy supports eSIM.
You can also open Settings, then Connections, then SIM manager. If you see an Add eSIM option, you are good.
Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked. A locked phone refuses other SIMs, including eSIMs.
How to install an eSIMion eSIM on a Galaxy
Your eSIM arrives by email with three ways to install.
Easiest: open the email on the Galaxy and tap the install link.
QR code: go to Settings, Connections, SIM manager, Add eSIM, then scan the QR code from the email displayed on another screen.
Manual: in the Add eSIM screen, choose to enter an activation code instead, and paste the LPA string from the email.
The install code works once. If an install fails partway, use the retry option on your install page or email support@esimion.com instead of rescanning.
After the install
In SIM manager, set the eSIM as your mobile data SIM. Turn on Data Roaming for the eSIM line only. Keep your home SIM active for calls and texts, with its data roaming off.
