Google Pixel eSIM compatibility and setup
Every Pixel from the Pixel 4 onward supports eSIM. The Pixel 3 and 3a support it in most markets, though a few early carrier units shipped with it disabled. The check below settles it for your phone.
Which Pixels support eSIM
Pixel 4 and everything newer, including the a-series and the Pro and Fold models. eSIM has been standard on Pixels since then, and the 30-second check below confirms your exact phone.
Pixel 3 and 3a support eSIM in most markets, but some units sold through carriers had it switched off. If you have one, run the check below rather than assuming.
The Pixel 2 supported eSIM only on Google Fi, so we leave it off the compatible list for travel eSIMs.
Check in 30 seconds
Open the dial pad and type *#06#. If a line labeled EID appears, your Pixel supports eSIM.
You can also open Settings, then Network & Internet, then SIMs. If you see an option to add an eSIM or download a SIM, you are good.
The phone must be carrier-unlocked too.
How to install an eSIMion eSIM on a Pixel
Your eSIM arrives by email with three ways to install.
Easiest: open the email on the Pixel and tap the install link.
QR code: go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs, Add eSIM (on some Android versions this is Download a SIM instead), then scan the QR code from the email on another screen.
Manual: in the same flow, choose to enter the code manually and paste the LPA string from the email.
The install code works once. If an install fails partway, use the retry option on your install page or email support@esimion.com.
After the install
In Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs, set the eSIM as your mobile data SIM. Turn on Data Roaming for the eSIM line only. Keep your home SIM on for calls and texts, with its data roaming off.
