KDDI eSIM for travelers

Our travel eSIM plans for Japan connect to the KDDI network. If you searched for an eSIM for KDDI coverage on a trip, this page explains exactly what we sell and where it works.

We are not KDDI

eSIMion is not KDDI, and we do not sell KDDI SIM cards, KDDI plans, or KDDI top-ups. If you are a KDDI customer looking for your own account, contact KDDI directly.

What we sell is a prepaid travel eSIM. In Japan, that eSIM connects to the KDDI network for data. You get local coverage without a KDDI contract, a store visit, or a local sign-up.

How a travel eSIM on the KDDI network works

You buy the plan before your trip and it arrives by email with a tap-to-install link and a QR code. When you land, your phone connects to KDDI's towers and data works. Your home SIM stays in place and your number does not change.

Where KDDI has built out 5G, you get 5G on supported plans. Elsewhere you get 4G, which is fine for maps, messaging, and video calls.

The plan is data only. It does not come with a local phone number, so calls and texts to your regular number still arrive through your home SIM.

Our Japan plans on KDDI

Our Japan eSIM plans ride on KDDI. The Japan page lists every plan size, validity, and what to expect from the network on the ground.
