Why won't my eSIM install?

Most installs fail for one of three reasons. The phone is not connected to the internet, the phone is carrier-locked, or the scan did not go through. Work through the fixes below in order.

1. Get online first

Your phone needs a working connection to download the eSIM. Use Wi-Fi or your home SIM's data. This is why we suggest installing before you fly.

2. Use the tap-to-install link

Your eSIM email has an install link. Open the email on the phone you are installing on and tap it. This skips the QR code entirely, so it works even if scanning fails.

3. Add it manually

The same email includes everything for manual entry: the SM-DP+ address, the activation code, and the full LPA string.

On iPhone: Settings, Cellular, Add eSIM, Use QR Code, then Enter Details Manually. Paste the details.

On Android: Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs, Add eSIM. If scanning fails, choose to enter the code manually and paste the LPA string.

4. Check your phone

Your phone must support eSIM and must be carrier-unlocked. A phone still locked to a carrier will refuse the install even when everything else is right.

The install code works once. If the install started and then failed partway, do not keep retrying the same code. Open your install page from the email and use the retry option there, or email us.

Still stuck?

Email support@esimion.com with your order reference (it starts with ESM-) and tell us your phone model. We will sort it out.
