Central America & Caribbean eSIM

Trips in this region rarely stay in one place. Cruises call at three islands in a week, and overland routes hop from Guatemala through Honduras to Costa Rica. Every one of those stops is a separate country with separate networks, which makes this region one of the strongest cases anywhere for a single regional eSIM.

Islands, cruises, and border hops

Each Caribbean island is its own coverage area, even when the next island is visible across the water. A regional plan reconnects automatically at each port of call, where per-island plans would mean a new install at every stop.

On the cruise ship itself, out at sea, your phone may see a satellite maritime network. That is a separate service with its own charges on your home SIM, so leave data roaming off on that line and let the eSIM connect when you are near shore.

On the mainland, the Central America overland route crosses several borders in quick succession. Crossings are formal and can be slow, so have tickets and bookings downloaded before you reach the border post.

Where coverage thins out

Capital cities, resort coasts, and tourist towns are well covered on 4G across the region. Coverage drops in the mountainous interior, in jungle areas like the Darien and inland Belize, and on the smaller, less developed islands.

Power and network outages after storms are a fact of life in the hurricane season. No SIM fixes that, so keep offline copies of anything you would need in a pinch.

Regional plan or per-country plans?

Multiple islands or a border crossing anywhere on the itinerary points to the regional plan. It is built for exactly this kind of trip.

A single-destination beach week, like one island or just Costa Rica, gets more data per dollar from that country's own plan below.

What a Central America & Caribbean eSIM costs

Regional trips vary too much for one printed price. Two weeks across Central America & Caribbean needs a different plan than four days in one corner of it. So we price the trip, not the page.
