eSIMion is not Tigo, and we do not sell Tigo SIM cards, Tigo plans, or Tigo top-ups. If you need help with your Tigo account, contact Tigo directly.
What we sell is a prepaid travel eSIM. In the countries listed below, that eSIM connects to the Tigo network for data. You get local coverage without signing a contract with Tigo, making a store visit, or completing a local sign-up.
How a travel eSIM on the Tigo network works
You buy the plan before your trip and it arrives by email with a tap-to-install link and a QR code. When you arrive, your phone connects to Tigo's towers (or a partner network, depending on the country) and data works. Your home SIM stays in place and your number does not change.
Where Tigo has built out 5G, you get 5G on supported plans. Elsewhere you get 4G, which is fine for maps, messaging, and video calls.
The plan is data only. It does not come with a local phone number, so calls and texts to your regular number still arrive through your home SIM.
Where our plans use the Tigo network
Plans that connect to Tigo are available for Bolivia, Colombia, Ghana, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Paraguay. Each country page lists the plan sizes and what the network is like on the ground.
Tigo across Latin America and West Africa
Tigo operates in six countries in our catalog: Colombia, Bolivia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Ghana. The Latin American footprint is concentrated in mid-sized markets with growing urban populations.
Ghana is the only African destination where our eSIM uses Tigo's network. Coverage in Accra and Kumasi is reliable on 4G.
What to expect on the ground
In Colombia, Tigo has strong 4G in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, and the main coffee region towns, with 5G expanding in larger cities. Coverage thins in the Amazon and Pacific coast.
Bolivia's challenging geography means coverage follows population: La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, and the main roads between them. The Uyuni salt flats and Amazonian lowlands are largely outside reliable coverage.
In Guatemala and Nicaragua, 4G works well in capital cities and major tourist sites. El Salvador and Honduras are not currently in this plan — check a regional plan if your trip spans multiple Central American countries.
