Optus eSIM for travelers

Our travel eSIM plans for Australia connect to the Optus network. If you searched for an eSIM for Optus coverage on a trip, this page explains exactly what we sell and where it works.

We are not Optus

eSIMion is not Optus, and we do not sell Optus SIM cards, Optus plans, or Optus top-ups. If you are a Optus customer looking for your own account, contact Optus directly.

What we sell is a prepaid travel eSIM. In Australia, that eSIM connects to the Optus network for data. You get local coverage without a Optus contract, a store visit, or a local sign-up.

How a travel eSIM on the Optus network works

You buy the plan before your trip and it arrives by email with a tap-to-install link and a QR code. When you land, your phone connects to Optus's towers and data works. Your home SIM stays in place and your number does not change.

Where Optus has built out 5G, you get 5G on supported plans. Elsewhere you get 4G, which is fine for maps, messaging, and video calls.

The plan is data only. It does not come with a local phone number, so calls and texts to your regular number still arrive through your home SIM.

Our Australia plans on Optus

Our Australia eSIM plans ride on Optus. The Australia page lists every plan size, validity, and what to expect from the network on the ground.
