Claro eSIM for travelers

Our travel eSIM plans connect to the Claro network in 5 countries. If you searched for an eSIM for Claro coverage on a trip, this page explains exactly what we sell and where it works.

We are not Claro

eSIMion is not Claro, and we do not sell Claro SIM cards, Claro plans, or Claro top-ups. If you need help with your Claro account, contact Claro directly.

What we sell is a prepaid travel eSIM. In the countries listed below, that eSIM connects to the Claro network for data. You get local coverage without signing a contract with Claro, making a store visit, or completing a local sign-up.

How a travel eSIM on the Claro network works

You buy the plan before your trip and it arrives by email with a tap-to-install link and a QR code. When you arrive, your phone connects to Claro's towers (or a partner network, depending on the country) and data works. Your home SIM stays in place and your number does not change.

Service on these plans is 4G LTE. Speeds are fine for maps, messaging, and video calls.

The plan is data only. It does not come with a local phone number, so calls and texts to your regular number still arrive through your home SIM.

Where our plans use the Claro network

Plans that connect to Claro are available for Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Uruguay. Each country page lists the plan sizes and what the network is like on the ground.

Claro across Central and South America

Claro, the Latin American brand of América Móvil, covers five countries in our catalog: Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

For travelers moving between these countries, a single Claro plan can reduce the need to manage multiple per-country purchases — provided the plan's coverage list confirms each destination.

Network coverage by country

Costa Rica has one of the best mobile networks in Central America. Claro's 4G reaches San José, the main tourist areas (Arenal, Manuel Antonio, the Nicoya Peninsula), and most main highways.

In Guatemala and Nicaragua, 4G is reliable in capital cities and main tourist towns. Coverage in rural and mountain areas is thinner.

Paraguay and Uruguay have compact, flat geographies that help coverage. In Uruguay, Claro reaches Montevideo and beach towns like Punta del Este. In Paraguay, Asunción and main regional cities are well covered.
